Is Harry Potter Evil?

Season 3, Episode 33: “Is Harry Potter Evil?”

Harry Potter, yoga, meditation, and Dungeons and Dragons—for some Christ-followers, these are fun, entertaining, and healthy activities. Others firmly believe they're a gateway to evil.

Which view is correct?

Join Rick and co-host Stephanie Hillberry (producer and author) as they explore what it means to "open yourself to dark influences." Using Paul's advice to the Corinthian church as a guide (1 Cor 8), they talk about why activities such as yoga can be acceptable to some Christians, but not for others.

I’m just not sure that the dark spiritual forces have to be invited into our lives. They can be invited but, just in the same way we don’t a thief to steal from us, the thief does it by force. Satan often steals kills and destroys by force, not invitation.

A person who doesn’t invite Christ into their lives and also doesn’t invite Satan into their life isn’t some spiritual vacuum free from the influence of either entity. Where God is not, Satan will move in, as describe by Jesus in Luke 11:24-26.

    Very compelling discussion. Thank you!

How on earth, can you call taking part in these things……”healthy” for ANY Christian.

The Bible says…..in Ephesians 5:12, “For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.” How, pray tell, can someone translate THAT….to……..these things can be healthy for some Christians.

This type of twisted false teaching is exactly why the “church” looks nothing like the Church that Christ established.

1Thessalonians 5:22 says” Abstain from any form of evil”. The meaning abstain is to restrain oneself from doing or enjoying something. I grew up in India and I know for sure that “Yoga” is originated from Hindu religious practices. There are many gods and goddesses in Hindu religion, and yoga is the postures of those particular gods and goddesses. Certain god has certain postures. That means dark forces in every postures. We may not realize the difference by doing these yogas but I believe it may badly affect our discernments. Bad choices, spiritual warfare may increase because of this. So it is better to quit these kind of things because Ephesians 6:12 says, “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.” You may reply any thoughts back to me-
